The last letter doubles
e.g. dig-digger

When you add an ending to a CVC word the consonant at the end doubles e.g:
swim + ing = swimming
run + ing_ running

the ending consonant is doubled before adding an ending to a cvc-word (hop - hopper, beg - begging).
